Policy Advisor & Transport Specialist

Mark is senior policy professional with 25+ years’ experience in the transport sector in Wellington, having previously worked for the Bus & Coach Association, Automobile Association, and Motor Industry Association before joining Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand in 2025.

Mark has a wide knowledge of the policy process, transport legislation, motoring issues, and extensive experience developing policy on transport legislation, writing submissions and influencing government policy. Mark also gained wide media experience as the lead spokesperson for the AA for some 15 years.
Mark is also a life-long car enthusiast (his mum says his first words were “Mini” or “Vee-dub”), and owns a small collection of classic Fiats.

In his spare time, besides managing his own “fleet”, his main hobby is making kitset model cars – he did say he was a car enthusiast! – and is also President of the Fiat Owners Club NZ, and volunteers his time and knowledge to support the classic car sector.
